Pipe Manufacturer Needed to Improve Productivity and Reduce Downtime of their U and O Presses.
U Press takes a flat plate of steel (Up to 10’ wide by 40’ long, 1” thick) and bends it into a “U” shape. This U is than transferred into the O Press, which bends the steel into the “O” shape prior to welding the pipe seam.
In addition to adding touch screens for improved operator information, the upgrade included sensors to ensure press maintains its level during operation and improved sensing of press pressures.
WBA previously upgraded the planning operation that ensured proper sizing and good edges to the plate prior to pressing. WBA also upgraded the high pressure expansion process that ensures uniform pipe dimensions and ensures no leaks.
