From the start, WBA Automation has supplied motion control solutions. Founded by a former Rockwell Automation Sr. Field Support Engineer specializing in motion technologies, WBA had many motion projects over the years. Although WBA has grown to provide solutions across a wide variety of industries and technologies, WBA has continued to support the motion needs of its customers.
Here are some samplings of out motion projects:
Glass Cutting X-Y Table
A local machine shop needed controls for a glass cutting X-Y table. Customer specified G&L controls. WBA supplied system design, panel building, programming and start up of the system.
Paper Stacker
A new manufacturer of paper stacking equipment needed assistance with their controls (Allen Bradley Control-Logix Motion with 8 servo drives). They had 2 machines being started at the same time and could not cover both installations. Furthermore, all of their machines installed to date had significant issues
WBA successfully started the one machine and later started up two additional machines
glue dispensing x-y table
A textile manufacturer needed to upgrade controls for their X-Y table, because the original system could no longer be supported. The requirements included interfacing to the SLC line controller and Wonderware HMI. They also needed the ability to import Autocad drawings as path information into the motion controller. This combination of requirements led to a Galil motion control based solution with Allen-Bradley servos.
WBA provided a complete panel, all the programming and start-up of the system
Shaft Straightener
A major supplier of automation products and solutions was providing development support to local manufacturer of shaft straightening equipment. They turn to WBA for assistance. The machines rotate the shaft at high speed taking precise position feedback. After the rotation is completed, the system used a Fourtier Transformation to filter out bumps in the material and determine the high point (location and amount of shaft bend). this high point is rotated to location and the required straightening move is performed
Centerless Grinder
A major supplier of automation products and solutions sold a controls upgrade for centerless grinders. They did not hace enough local resources to staff the project, so they contracted WBA. Controls were Allen-Bradley Control-Logix with motion to replace existing PLC-2 systems with 3rd party motion controls
Initial contract was for one 3-grinder cell. After successful completion of the first project, 4 additional cells were …
Drum Former
A major supplier of automation products and solutions sold a controls upgrade for a drum forming line. They did not have enough local resources to staff the project, so they contracted WBA. Controls were Allen-Bradley Control-Logix with motion.
WBA provide system design, programming and start-up services
